Jonathan Gaza the people’s democratic party’s, PDP candidate
for the Nassarawa federal House of Representatives, representing Karu, Keffi
and Kokona federal constituency has expressed dissatisfaction over the
organisation of the elections.
Speaking to Newspeak, he said the card reading device
deployed for the 2015 general elections is an innovation that is badly timed.
“These card readers should have been used for either runoff
elections or bye-election. An election of such nature is been used as a guinea
pig.
“So many in so many units I can quote: Gunduma, Karu LGA and
many other areas, the card readers are breaking down,” he said.
“In a particular unit, I don’t know if it is due to the
inexperience of the operators of the machines, But you have a situation where
they say the card readers are not working, no incident forms. They are saying
they are waiting for order from above.
“Yesterday I leant a whole ward Karshi 2 did not have
returning sheets as at the time of distribution of materials.
“For heaven’s sack, this shows a high level of
unpreparedness and the inability to use this new age facility for these
elections,” Gaza decries.
