His two main challengers, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Mr. Olusola Oke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are performing poorly based on uncertified results received from election monitors and reporters the ground in Ondo State. Mimiko also won in Akeredolu’s wards in Owo and Oke’s wards in Ilaje areas of the state.
Earlier in the day, ACN’s candidate, Mr. Akeredolu spoke to newsmen on the election. He said that he was performing well in the election. He rejected the idea that he was losing in his ward. “The result (Saharareporters) published was not correct,” he said. “We won in 10 of the 11 units in the ward. We have not lost the ward.”
While he did not say if he would accept wholeheartedly whatever result INEC finally announces, he pointed out that there were already reports of malpractices taking place and election materials not received at the rural parts of the state.
He restated the basis of his candidacy as the unification of the South West under the ACN. “The Labor Party is frustrating efforts to develop the South West,”
