Fire Gusts Oil Vessel In Port Harcourt

An oil vessel carrying crude oil has caught fire in Abuloma wharf in Port Harcourt Rivers State, fire services and National Emergency Management Agency officials are still battling to put out the fire.
An emergency services officer told SaharaReporters that they are concerned about the spread of the fire to other tankers in the jetty if the fire is not curtailed immediately.
   Residents in the Abuloma community said some 26 persons might have died in the tanker inferno. The vessel reportedly belongs to Nestoil. A fire truck owned by NEMA has arrived the scene with a back up fire truck from SPDC.
A second fire in Eleka in Rumuokechi area of Port Harcourt has been put out after five gasoline tanker caught fire. The JTF in the area averted a major fire disaster as they stopped residents from scooping gasoline from the tankers shortly before they caught fire.. The JTF operatives have cordoned off the area.
